Who we are

Homestalgia Media Group, LLC is a limited liability company formed in the State of Delaware, United States, trading as Homestalgia. We are the data controller for the personal data described here, we decide what is collected and why. You can reach us at privacy@homestalgia.com.

What we collect and why

  • Account details, name, email address, and login credentials, so we can create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • Profile information, username, bio, photo, location, brokerage, license number, and professional details you choose to publish. Legal basis: contract and, for optional fields, your consent.
  • Stories, photos, and property contributions, including the addresses you associate yourself with and any people you tag. Legal basis: contract; publication of a story is at your direction.
  • Homeowner and lead contact details, when an agent invites a homeowner or a consumer contacts a professional, we process the name, email, and phone number provided. Legal basis: legitimate interests in operating the invitation and lead features.
  • Support messages, what you send us and our replies, so we can help you. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Usage and device data, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and error diagnostics. Legal basis: legitimate interests in security, fraud prevention, and improving the product.
  • Precise location, only if you tap "use my location" and your browser grants permission. We use it to center the map and do not store it. Legal basis: consent.
  • Marketing preferences, if you subscribe to The Dailies. Legal basis: consent, withdrawable at any time.

Payment card details are collected and processed by Paddle, not by us. We never see or store your full card number.

What is public

Homestalgia is a public archive. Your username, profile, and any story you publish without marking it private are visible to anyone and may be indexed by search engines. Stories marked private are visible only to you and to the specific people you share them with. Think before you publish details about a home that is currently occupied.

Who we share data with

  • Service providers and subprocessors that host our database, storage, and application infrastructure, send our email, and provide mapping, property data, and AI text generation used to draft marketing copy.
  • Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of subscriptions, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing.
  • Professional advisers such as our lawyers and accountants, where needed.
  • Authorities, where we are required to disclose by law or to protect someone's safety.
  • An acquirer, if the business is merged, acquired, or sold, you will be told before your data moves under a different privacy notice.

We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep account data for as long as your account is open. If you close it, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 90 days, apart from records we must retain for tax, accounting, or legal-defense purposes. Published stories can be deleted by you at any time; deleting your account removes the authorship link from any story you leave behind.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent you previously gave. California residents may also request details of the categories of data we collect and disclose, and may opt out of any sharing that counts as a sale under state law, we do not sell data. If you are in the UK or EEA, you can complain to your local supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@homestalgia.com. We respond within one month and will never charge you or treat you differently for asking.

International transfers

We operate from the United States, and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the UK or EEA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision to protect it.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your last searched area. We use a small amount of analytics data to understand which pages are useful. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; if you block the essential ones, sign-in will not work.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, row-level access rules on our database, and access controls limiting who on our side can reach production data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Children

Homestalgia is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

We will post any update to this notice here and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the service or by email before they take effect.
